BW Offshore is a global owner and operator of Floating Production Storage and Offloading. Lucion were required to undertake the identification of asbestos, removal and air monitoring of two vessels/platforms off the coasts of Nigeria and Mauritania.
This dual offshore project in 2014 involved two teams of surveyors attending each installation. Our work was to identify the location of asbestos by means of a complete asbestos management survey.
Following the surveys, we completed a scope of works for the asbestos removal project. This specification was issued by the client to a choice of suitably qualified asbestos removal contractors, suggested by Lucion.
Once the removal contract was awarded, Lucion arranged all the onshore support services required to enable the project to begin, and acted as escorts for the duration of the project.
Lucion were on site managing all the asbestos removal works, and completing any necessary air monitoring certification. This was a dual project, completed simultaneously across the two vessels.
Finally we provided BW Offshore with re-inspection reports detailing completed works along with tailored Asbestos Management Plans for each platform. Lucion supplied training to the offshore workers on how to manage the asbestos, including training selected workers to UKATA Category B non licensed asbestos work with asbestos.
